Bow Down: Death Magnetic Dominates The World Charts



As mentioned before, Metallica’s Death Magnetic debuted at number 1 position in the UK album charts. The new Metallica album reached the stores in the UK on 10th of September and racked up sales of 75,164 by close of business on Saturday.

Similar story in the USA. In just a three-day sales window, Metallica’s Death Magnetic sold nearly half a million copies and tops The Billboard 200. The band’s first studio album since 2003 moved 490,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Death Magnetic is Metallica’s fifth consecutive studio album to debut at No. 1 position in USA. Metallica is now the first band ever to see five of its albums bow at No. 1 position on The Billboard 200. The Beatles, U2 and the Dave Matthews Band all have four each.

The album also debuted at No. 1 position in following countries’ album charts:

Death Magnetic is no.1 in India. It topped the sales charts in all the big and small music stores in and around the metros. I went into a store and there were dozens of boxes of DM lying around and someone was buying the album every minute i was there.
