Metallica Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 2009 Induction Nominee

The nominations for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum have been announced. Metallica is one of the induction nominees!

Five of the nine nominees will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That gives a good chance of Metallica making it. The inductees will be announced in January 2009. The 24th Annual Induction Ceremony will be hosted on April 4th 2009 at the Public Hall in Cleveland.

Now’s your chance to visit “The House That Rock Built.” Enter to win four tickets to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame complete with a private guided tour with the museum’s curator now.

The 2009 Rock’n'Roll Hall Of Fame induction nominees are:

Jeff Beck
Chic
Wanda Jackson
Little Anthony and the Imperials
Metallica
Run-D.M.C.
the Stooges
War
Bobby Womack

To be eligible for nomination into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, an act must have released its first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. This year’s nominees had to release their first single no later than 1983. Metallica’s debut album Kill ‘em All was released in 1983.

Rising from the Los Angeles metal underground in the early 1980s, Metallica quickly rose to become the most successful and acclaimed heavy metal band of their era – a position they’ve consistently held for over a quarter century. Founded by vocalist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, the group discovered a potent formula by combining the thrash metal of Motorhead with the industrial sound of Killing Joke. By the late 1980s, mainstream tastes were shifting over to metal and Metallica found themselves with a string of hit singles and sold-out stadiums across the globe. This month Metallica released Death Magnetic, a metal tour de force in the same vein as their landmark 1980s work.

Advance ticket sales for the event will be made available to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum members and then to the public.
