It’s a first in both music and gaming: Metallica Guitar Hero Death Magnetic. The same day that Metallica’s Death Magnetic album hits the streets, you’ll be able to download the entire album plus exclusive content for “Guitar Hero III”. The package is called Metallica The Game Magnetic (Death For Guitar Hero).
The simultaneous release of the new Metallica album and the “downloadable content” for your Guitar Hero game will happen at 2:00 AM PDT on Friday, September 12. You can get “Death Magnetic” for GHIII at the Xbox LIVE Marketplace for a cost of 1,440 Microsoft Points and in the Playstation store for PS3 at a cost of $17.99.
Each download contains two different versions of the instrumental song “Suicide & Redemption”. One version is James Hetfield only solo, and the other is Kirk Hammett only solo. The download will be forward compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour when it comes out in October.
Metallica says “We are so psyched that we’ll be the first out of the gate with this simultaneous release… who knows, maybe a few years from now this will be the norm when your favorite band’s new record comes out. And for those of you who are anxiously awaiting the next Guitar Hero, “World Tour”, we’re ready for that too… you will be able to experience “Death Magnetic” for drums, vocals, and guitar when that game emerges this Fall.”
